As a ‘tea totaller’ I gulp in short cups of tea at least thrice a day. (Morning is an exception, when my preference is for the other alkaloid rich brew – coffee.) During the last few months, I made a switch to caffeine free, fruit infused herbal teas (http://www.madubannaturals.com/Pom_fruit_teas.htm), as a healthier option. Now that the summer has started to come down heavily on us, the inclination to drink a hot brew especially in the afternoon is less. A refreshing cool drink is more welcome option. This prompted me to try and make iced tea from these handmade herbal tea bags. The result was a drink that was cool, refreshing while at the same time giving that much needed energy boost in the late afternoons. Try it out and see for yourself.
To make a chilled glass of health iced fruit tea:
- To a cup of lukewarm water steep a tea bag of the fruit infused herbal tea
- Allow the brew to cool down to room temperature
- Add a tea spoon of sugar and dash of lime (to give a slight zing to the taste)
- Add ice cubes and enjoy a glass of healthy iced tea
Health benefits of this iced herbal fruit tea:

- Caffeine free!
- Contains herbs that are good for health
- A healthy iced cooler for summer – devoid of synthetic additives like colors, preservatives, flavors etc
- Can be made in small batches whenever needed
- Any day, a more healthy option than the colas and fruit juices that come loaded with sugar and additives
